At Bosworth Plastics, we’re passionate about nurturing the future of British manufacturing, and that includes opening our doors to young people ready to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in.
Recently, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming two local school leavers into the team, and we’re thrilled with the attitude, energy and work ethic they’ve brought to the business.
Breaking the Stereotype
Let’s be honest, teenagers can sometimes get a rough deal when it comes to workplace reputation. But these two young lads are already proving that hard work, punctuality and professionalism aren’t age-dependent.
From their very first day, they’ve:
- Arrived early, ready to start without being asked
- Got straight to work, with no complaints or hesitation
- Fully engaged, without a glance at the clock
They’ve been polite, pleasant, and proactive, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by the rest of the team.
Hands-On Experience Across the Board
We’re ensuring they gain a well-rounded introduction to manufacturing by involving them in a variety of tasks, including:
- General factory duties
- Packing and order preparation
- Second operations and quality control
By rotating them through different areas of the business, they’re developing a broader understanding of how a plastics manufacturing facility operates — skills that will serve them well, wherever their careers take them.
Why We Did It, and Why We’ll Do It Again
When we put the word out locally for school leavers interested in a summer job, or potentially something more long-term before heading to sixth form or apprenticeships, we hoped to find motivated young people looking to gain real-world experience.
And we’re pleased to say we found exactly that.
Our decision wasn’t just about filling temporary roles, it was about creating opportunities, fostering ambition, and building a stronger connection with our local community.
Building a Stronger Future, Together
As a UK manufacturer, we recognise how vital it is to engage with the next generation of workers. Whether they continue with us in the future or move on to further education or training, we hope their time at Bosworth Plastics gives them a solid foundation — and a positive first experience of the manufacturing sector.
This small but meaningful initiative has reinforced something we already believed: when given the opportunity, young people can and do rise to the challenge.
